Buro approached Matter to help with the launch of their new gaming chairs, made in collaboration with PowerA, the gaming accessories brand. This job required some creative workflows. It was the first time we'd been required to integrate multiple products into one scene, rather than just one hero product. The scenes were to feature the specified gaming chair, as well as PowerA accessories like controllers and headphones.
We leant into maximalist, lived-in environments packed with personality: art-covered walls, vinyl collections, neon signage, plants, and collectibles, with the chair always anchoring the composition.
Lighting was entirely practical in feel - LED strips, RGB fan glow, monitor light, and desk lamps layering together organically with no harsh key light, pushing deep shadows toward indigo and violet while warm ambient sources created tension against the cool purple-blue dominant palette.
We mixed over-the-shoulder POV shots of subjects genuinely engaged with their screens alongside environmental portraits that let the setup speak for itself, shooting everything in square format for social optimization. Subjects were styled in relaxed, casual attire - oversized sweaters, distressed denim - with high ISO grain retained throughout to keep the imagery feeling authentic and immersive rather than overly produced.
